Diversity

BSD Diversity Committee (BDC)

Openness is critical to the process of discovery. Here, as part of the endeavor to achieve scientific excellence, the widest range of viewpoints, perspectives, and experiences are not only sought after and encouraged, they are the building blocks that make rigorous inquiry possible. We are committed to enabling all people to fully participate in the life of the University. The BDC provides a central group for UChicago Biosciences that coordinates and promotes:

  • Social, cultural, and scientific interactions
  • Awareness of issues facing students
  • Administrative student support, educational programs, and mentorship
  • Student recruitment strategies through networking with established regional and national serving organizations as well as by enhancing our programs' visibility.

The committee is led by Dr. Mark Westneat, Dr. Adam Hammond, Dr. David Kovar, and Associate Dean of D&I Dr. Robert Carrillo. All are welcome to contribute to these efforts. You can join the BDC email list by logging into UChicago’s email list host website: https://lists.uchicago.edu/web/home
